Susan Bernstein is a Speech-Language Pathologist, registered with the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario. She graduated with a Masters of Health Science degree from the University of Toronto.
Susan worked in the Peel District School Board for over 30 years with students aged 3 to 13, in more than 50 schools. During her career she has been the project leader in producing and implementing resources which promote the development of oral language, phonological awareness skills and direct instruction in reading and writing. Susan has presented at conferences such as the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists School Symposium and the Ontario Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. She has also led workshops in many Ontario school boards and acted as a guest lecturer and course partner for the Western University Graduate SLP school-age language course.
In private practice, Susan actively engages and consults with independent schools, including Sterling Hall, The Mabin School, Branksome Hall, Hillcrest Progressive School, and St. Clements Early Learning School, to name a few, as well as public schools in Toronto. In-school, home-based, and telepractice are all used to provide students and parents with direct services.
Her passions are to inform educators and parents about the development of oral and written language skills, to use evidence-based strategies to support this development and to make learning fun and engaging for children!
